The best strategy to reduce your electricity bills is to work on reducing your overall consumption.
We can help you with this.
Here is a great list of energy saving tips that help you to reducing your consumption:
1. CHANGE A BULB
One of the most effective and well known ways of reducing your consumption is to switch your regular light bulbs for energy saving light bulbs.
They last longer and use less energy, so if you change all the light bulbs in your house you could see big savings.
This may involve changing the light bulb fittings too.
We are always happy to advise our clients on this.
This doesn't have to be expensive solutions like cavity wall insulation and loft insulation (although these will help too).
Even something as simple as fitting inexpensive draught excluders or buying a jacket for your hot water tank can make a big difference over time.
3. ONLY USE WHAT YOU NEED AND TURN OFF WHAT YOU DON'T
A surprising amount of electricity is used up on electrical products that are left on standby or just plugged in.
This is still drawing electricity. If you don't need to use it - unplug it.
Washing clothes at lower temperatures should still get them clean and save you money.
Doing full loads rather than half loads is also a more efficient way of using your washing machine - the same goes for the dishwasher.
5. CHECK YOUR THERMOSTAT
Your hot water thermostat should be set to 60°c/140°f, and turning down your air conditioning and central heating by 1°c can reduce your consuption by a substantial percentage.
6. SERVICING YOUR AIR CONDITIONING EQUIPMENT
Service and clean your air conditioning systems regularly- to help trim down the costs of heating, cooling and dehumidifying.
Book in a yearly service - be proactive.
7. THE SUN’S POWER IS FREE TO USE
Convert from electrical or gas water heating, to solar energy.
We have 1000’s of clients who are reaping the benefit of a solar installation - giving free hot water.
8. BOOK AN ELECTRICITY EFFICIENCY SURVEY
We are advising many clients on reducing their electrical consumption.
Why not book in a consultation with one of our engineers? - you will be surprised at how small changes can make a real difference.
9. BUY ENERGY EFFICIENT APPLIANCES
If you need any new appliances such as dishwashers, washing machines, and fridge freezers - buy energy efficient.
Look out for products with the "Energy Saving Trust Recommended" label, as these will be products that are independently tested and reviewed as the most efficient in the market.
Consider also that energy efficient machines are by design better quality than discounted cheaper options because they are built with better components, which means that they will do the job better. You may pay more but you will also get more.

10. POOL FILTRATION
Look at the hours you filter your pool.
You can reduce the hours during the winter months.
For example, if you filter you pool for 6 hours a day during the summer, try 4 hours a day during the winter months.
